Trade mission west coast US: smart and green mobility

Does your company focus on innovative forms of mobility, electric transport, clean fuels, charging infrastructure, the use of mobility data, smart traffic solutions or self-driving transport? And do you want to expand your network and do business in California and/or Arizona? Then join the trade mission to the west coast of the United States from 3 to 7 May.

Why California and Arizona?

These states are at the forefront of testing and implementing various forms of self-driving and smart transportation. Both states have issued dozens of permits to self-driving transportation providers in recent years. Examples include robo-taxis (Waymo, Cruise), logistics and trucking (TUSimple, Aurora), last-mile delivery (Nuro, Starship) and passenger vehicles (Tesla). Some applications can already be encountered on public roads.

Sustainable Transportation in California

The transition to sustainable transport is a top priority for both regions. California recently set aside a $10 billion package to dramatically reduce pollution and emissions from the mobility sector. Among other things, the state is focusing on zero-emission vehicles, setting up an extensive charging network and testing and scaling up innovations such as 'vehicle-to-grid' integration.

Sustainable Transportation in Arizona

In Arizona, too, the transition to cleaner transportation is topical. With a low regulatory burden and a large amount of sun and wind, there are many opportunities to effectively make the mobility industry more sustainable. That is also the reason that several manufacturers of electric vehicles have established themselves here (including Nikola, Lucid).

Opportunities for Dutch companies

Both at the federal level (Bipartisan Infrastructure Law) and at the state level, significant amounts of money have been set aside to take mobility and infrastructure to the next level. This offers opportunities for partnerships. During this mission, you can meet key business partners who play a major role in the transition to a cleaner, connected transport sector, both for passenger transport and the logistics sector.

Which sectors?

The mission focuses on the following sectors:

  • Green mobility: both in passenger transport and the logistics sector (EVs, charging infrastructure, smart charging, hydrogen and multimodal transport);
  • Smart mobility: both in passenger transport and the logistics sector (application of autonomous and cooperative driving, Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and Mobile Security Solutions (MAAS)).

The emphasis is on the applications and the further scaling up of innovative mobility concepts.

For whom?

The mission is only open to Dutch companies and knowledge institutions that are active within the aforementioned sectors. The western US also offers many opportunities for female entrepreneurs and young entrepreneurs, and for start-ups and scale-ups.

Diversity, dealing with that diversity, and 'out-of-the-box' thinking is extra appreciated here and often preferred over the traditional way of doing business. We therefore also invite entrepreneurs from different backgrounds, female entrepreneurs and start-ups and scale-ups to participate. You can exchange your expertise and experiences with entrepreneurs in the western U.S.
