Zupr selected for TNW pitch battle

Startup in Residence alumnus Zupr was selected to join the pitch battle at The Next Web Conference in Amsterdam today. As one of the 50 finalists, the startup had the winning pitch in front of some of the most influential minds in tech.

Zupr wants to help local retailers increase their in-store sales, brands to market their products locally, and consumers to find the products they need right around the corner. Simply put, the startup builds software to connect brands and retailers, in an effort to uncover local product availability to consumers.

The Next Web

TNW is a global digital brand that informs, inspires and connects people who love tech, through media, events, and services. Every year, the who’s who of the tech and business community gathers, with delegates from Google, Reddit, Nike and Red Bull are attending, just to name a few.

“It was a really last minute thing”, Zupr founder Michiel Vos says. “We were also selected for a showcase booth, but we decided to participate in the pitch battle in the Marketing & Retail category, because it’s really great exposure for us. It was 5 minute pitch along with a Q&A with the judges, and it’s really cool to do! And afterwards, two judges said we had the best idea.”

Cool things on the horizon

So what happened since the Startup in Residence program? “We’ve been very busy”, Michiel laughs. “We’re working on finalizing our platform and there’s international interest. We’re currently in talks with Giorgio 1958, a shoe manufacturer from Italy. They were really interested in what we’re doing and also want to use our platform for their brand to, which is really great too.”
