Coming soon: the Startup in Residence Program

Startup in Residence

Want to help make Groningen a better place with your startup? The Groningen City and Province are looking for ambitious startups to come up with new and innovative ways to tackle social issues and urban challenges. Startup in Residence is a 5 month program where you’ll get intensive coaching and training, and the City and Province will act as launching customer for the most promising solutions.

Whether it’s the much needed energy transition, creating a circular economy, waste sorting or healthy ageing, there are plenty of challenges to tackle in Groningen. In an effort to promote social entrepreneurship and open and innovative collaboration, the municipal and provincial government is looking for talented, ambitious and young entrepreneurs to come up with ways to make Groningen even better.

The program

In the coming months, the city and province, working together with other initiatives and corporates, will come up with different challenges for you to rack that big brain of yours. After a pitch and final selection, it’s time to roll up your sleeves and get cracking.

Selected startups will get 5 months of intensive training along with guidance from professional coaches, to master all the ins and outs of entrepreneurship and help you to turn your idea into a prototype. You will have access to both the municipal and provincial governments’ networks and resources, and of course a place to work your magic. When your awesome idea is shaped into a working and successful solution, the City and Province will be your launching customer and help get your product market ready.

Stay tuned

We’ll be launching somewhere in May, but in the meantime, we’ll keep you posted these coming months, with more details on the final challenges, the selection process and training program. So stay tuned and be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter to stay in the loop.
